Ahu Akgün completed her Master’s degree in Visual Arts and Visual Communication Design at Sabancı University in 2018. In 2022, she began her Proficiency in Art in the Painting Department at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, where she had also earned her undergraduate degree. In 2019, she was awarded the Akbank Contemporary Artists Prize. Being invited to numerous group shows since 2009, her first solo was held at Mixer Gallery in Istanbul in 2020. In 2022, she was represented by the same gallery at NADA New York. Living and working in Istanbul, Akgün has also organized, in the last years, workshops for students of various age groups at institutions including the Nesin Foundation, Bursa Municipality, and Saint Joseph High School. In 2024, Akgün was one of the most prominently featured artists—possibly with the highest number of works—at Arter in the group exhibition "Suppose You Are Not" curated by Selen Ansen. That same year, she was invited to participate in the exhibition "Painting Today" at Yapı Kredi Gallery curated by Didem Yazıcı and Burcu Çimen. Her works were also showcased in "The Beginning of Memory" (Istanbul, Ark Kültür) and "A Memory Surfaces" (Ankara, Kırlangıç Sokak), both celebrating the 40th anniversary of Galeri Nev. Most recently, in March 2025, Akgün took part in the group exhibition "Chrysalis of Rebirth", curated by Bengü Gün and hosted by Carpel, in London.
