İbrahim Karakütük

İbrahim Karakütük began approaching photography as a narrative form in 2012. Working primarily with lens-based media, he continuously adapts his visual language in response to the stories he seeks to tell. He is a co-founder of Ka Space for Visual Culture and Fotolab Print Space. Karakütük’s first acclaimed book, Wet Sorrow (“Islak Hüzün”), received the FUAM–Kassel Dummy Book Award at the Istanbul Photobook Festival in 2017. In addition to this work, he independently published Vitrivirus Man (2013), My Father (2013), and -3 (2014). His debut solo exhibition, Zigzags in the Chest Cavity, opened at Galeri Nev in 2021. Over the years, his works have been featured in numerous group exhibitions, including Angels’ Share (Tütün Depo, 2017), Monomyth (NevNesil, 2018), Age of Gold (Galeri Nev 35th Anniversary Exhibition, 2019), and Another Round (a parallel event to the 17th Istanbul Biennial, 2022). In 2023, Karakütük presented his second solo exhibition, The Cave of the Starving Lion, at Galeri Nev. Most recently, his works were included in The Beginning of Memory (İstanbul, Ark Kültür) and A Memory Surfaces (Ankara, Kırlangıç Sokak), two exhibitions organized in November 2024 as part of Galeri Nev’s fortieth-anniversary program.
