Serpil Mavi Üstün graduated from Neş’e Erdok Workshop at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University in 2008. During her school years, she also attended Hüsnü Koldaş's ancient mosaic, fresco and sgraffito workshop. She based her works on the common habits of people living alone in their daily routine and created troubled, uneasy, fragile characters who abruptly destroy moments that seem ideal, pleasant or quite ordinary. Mavi had three exhibitions in Istanbul, the first one in 2013. Since 2006, she has been invited to several group exhibitions in Istanbul, London, Paris, Milan and New York. Her works were shown in two solo exhibitions in London in 2018 and 2019. Mavi's works were exhibited in the group exhibition "Another Round" organized by Galeri Nev in the space of Kendi Collection as a parallel event of the 17th Istanbul Biennial, at Mrs. Gallery in New York, and at The Artist Room Gallery in London. The artist has been working in London since 2016.
