Art of Defence

Galeri Nev closes the 2010-2011 season with second in series of the “NevGeneration” exhibitions, as part of its adventure for discovering a new generation. The first of NevGeneration was held in 2009 with the participation of 16 young artists, whose works are today represented in major national collections. This first exhibition was entitled “In Search of Lost Reality”, with reference to Marcel Proust, and pointed to the search of reality in art at a time when reality had perished. This year’s exhibition will carry the title “Art of Defence”. “NevGeneration: The Art of Defence” will bring together 21 young artists, mostly sculptors, with particular reference to recent discussions between sculptors and bureaucrats. All artists represented in the show, with the exception of Karolin Fişekçi and Mehmet Ali Uysal who had also taken part in the 2009 exhibition, are displaying their works for the very first time at Galeri Nev. In addition, artists living in France and Germany are likewise taking part in this year’s show thanks to support extended by the French Cultural Centre and the Goethe-Institut Ankara. The opening will be held on April 29 with the partecipation of all artists and the exhibition will remain open at Galeri Nev until May 28.
